Even though they live in different eras, both of them suffered oppression. Ariyah is “collateral” for her mother’s debt to Tambas (Ario Bayu), while Yulia tries to face a land mafia named Mintarjo who threatens to take her house. The storylines go back and forth between the past and the present, but intertwined, make this show more dynamic and intense.
Interestingly, with this mystery story involving love, revenge, and courage, the audience is invited to think about who the real ghost is. It’s as if this performance wants to reflect the shape of ghosts of today’s era, no longer having a physical form, but rather emerging from social problems.
“We can see another perspective from history in Indonesia, urban legends are not something to be afraid of, but they are a psychological and sociological reflection of the people around them,” said Happy Salma, one of the producers.

Through the reconstruction of the script worked on by Kurnia Effendi and the characterization of Ariyah herself, the director wants to bring back the experience of encountering ghost stories through the medium directly on the theater stage, after all this time our sensitivity has been “eroded” in popular culture, from comics, novels, films to videos on social media.
