Jakarta, IO – National Police’s anti-terror squad Densus 88 nabbed two terrorist suspects identified as AH aka AM and DAM in West Java, Wednesday (1/11). Both were suspected to be members of the Jemaah Anshorut Daulah (JAD) network led by Abu Oemar (AO).

According to Densus 88 spokesperson Aswin Siregar, they joined several WhatsApp Groups (WAG), including the one linked to Muslim United and Ummatan Wasathan. One of their goals is to disrupt the 2024 elections, per CNNIndonesia, Saturday (4/11).

Aswin elaborated that they often discussed about fundraising activity, including with UR who was arrested earlier by Densus 88.

“UR said that activities to disrupt the elections must be carried out in an ‘amaliyah’ manner,” he said. “Amaliyah is the language they usually use. An act of terror which could be an attack, for example, using sharp weapons or firearms, and what we really don’t want is a suicide bombing,” continued Aswin.

In the month of October, Densus 88 arrested a total of 59 terrorism suspects from the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), Jemaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), and Anshor Daulah (AD) terror networks.

Of this, Aswin said 40 suspects plan to sow chaos during next year’s poll by carrying out attacks on security forces on duty. (un)
