Jakarta, IO – Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Executive Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Central Executive Board, asserted that Gerindra General Chairman Prabowo Subianto visited several political figures and ulema (Muslim scholars) on Eid al-Fitr, merely to celebrate the religious holiday and foster relationships.
Dasco told reporters Monday (May 9) that it was premature to associate Chairman Prabowo’s visits with the 2024 presidential election. He said no discussion about politics or the presidential election occurred in the meetings.

Dasco also commented on the visit to the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) General Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri as a gesture of respect to visit an older figure. “Before visiting the other figures, we went to Mrs. Mega first.”
