Jakarta, IO – Solo city makes it into the UNESCO 55 Creative Cities list released by the organization on Tuesday (31/10).

The Central Java was noted for its uniqueness and excellence in the Crafts and Folk Arts category, per Kompas, Friday (3/11).

UNESCO director general Audrey Azoulay said the 55 cities were a new addition to the list of ‘Creative Cities’. The addition expands UNESCO list to 350 cities in more than 100 countries representing seven categories namely Crafts and Folk Arts, Film Design, Gastronomy, Literature, Media Arts and Music.

According to Audrey, the new cities will work together with other members in the network to strengthen resilience in the face of ever-growing threats.

“The cities in the Creative Cities Network will take the lead in increasing access to culture, as well as mobilizing the power of creativity for urban resilience and development,” she said.
