Jakarta, IO – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that the searing heat felt recently in Indonesia is not caused by heat wave. The increase in temperature in almost all regions is caused by the apparent movement of the sun.

“If we look at the characteristics of the phenomenon, as well as the statistical indicators, our observations indicated that based on established criteria it is not a heat wave,” said BMKG deputy director Guswanto, per Katadata, Thu (2/5).

According to the BMKG meteorological data recapitulation in the last 24 hours, the temperature in most parts of Indonesia had increased by around 5 degrees above the daily maximum average temperature for more than five days.
