Jakarta, IO – Section II of the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) Toll Road, which was inaugurated by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in August 2023, collapsed due to heavy rain, Wednesday (3/4).
The section near the Parungkuda exit, Sukabumi regency is 11.9 kilometers long and built to reduce travel time between Jakarta and Sukabumi from 9 to just 2.5 hours, per Katadata, Thu (4/4).
As a result, one car reportedly plunged into the gaping hole, injuring two people inside. They have been rushed to Sekarwangi Cibadak General Hospital.
PT Waskita Toll Road (WTR) corporate secretary Alex Siwu suspected the incident occurred due to erosion caused by heavy rain around the location. The access road from Parungkuda to Ciawi was also temporarily closed to avoid the potential disasters.
“We have tightened security around the location and at the Parungkuda toll gate in anticipation of vehicles entering the route from Jakarta/Bogor or Sukabumi,” said Alex.
