Jakarta, IO – Renowned author Salman Rushdie was attacked and stabbed in the neck by an unknown assailant when he delivered a lecture at the Chautauqua Institution, New York, on Friday (13/8).
According to The New York Times, the attack took place around 11am local time. The attack on the Indian-born American writer came shortly after he took to the stage to give a lecture to a community in New York that offers the arts and literature program.
NY state police said Rushdie was immediately airlifted to a local hospital. However, his current condition is unknown. Police have not yet found a clear motive behind the attack.
