Police punishes 10 members after Kanjuruhan soccer tragedy

Jakarta, IO – National Police (Polri) chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo officially issued an order to remove 10 members of the force in the wake of the football tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, that resulted in 125 dead.

They consisted of Malang Police chief Superintendent Ferli Hidayat and a number of personnel from the East Java Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Unit.

Ferli was replaced of Superintendent Putu Kholis who previously served as Tanjung Priok Port Police chief and in Jakarta Police Department, announced Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo at a press conference reported by Detik on Tuesday (4/10).

The nine Brimob personnel who were suspended are Superintendent Agus Waluyo SIK, Superintendent Hasdarman, 1st Sub-inspector Solikin, 1st Sub-inspector Samsul, 1st Sub-inspector Ari Dwiyanto, Adjunct Commissioner Untung, Adjunct Commissioner Danang, Adjunct Commissioner Nanang and 1st Sub-inspector Budi.

Furthermore, Polri is also investigating 28 others suspected of breaching the police’s code of ethics. (rr)
