Jakarta, IO – After the ground-breaking ceremony to mark the construction of PT Wavin Manufacturing Indonesia’s pipe factory in the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KIT Batang), President Joko Widodo expressed his enthusiasm that Indonesia will be able to export pipes to Asia Pacific, Australia and Europe.

He also appreciated the Dutch company’s decision to invest in Indonesia despite the global uncertainty.

“I once again express my gratitude to Wavin B.V. and Orbia who have put their trust in Indonesia because it is not easy to gain trust from an investor. Once a country has been labelled as not good for investment, no country will want to come to our country and if no one wants to come, what does that mean? We have to import goods from abroad,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi added that there are already ten companies under construction in KIT Batang including an electric car battery factory, the largest glass factory in Southeast Asia, and a medical device factory. He said these investments will provide added value, create employment opportunities, and bring in state revenue and foreign exchange.
