Jakarta, IO – The National Police (Polri) chief police general Listyo Sigit Prabowo pledged to unveil the truth behind the murder of Brigadier J by ex-police internal affairs chief Ferdy Sambo.
“Nothing will be covered up, we will open everything according to the facts, to reveal the truth as it is,” said Sigit, as reported by CNN Indonesia, Friday (19/8). Listyo said the police force reputation is at stake if the case is not handled properly.
He also instructed members to restore public’s trust and confidence toward the force which has started to decline since the scandal broke out. The way to do it, according to Listyo, is to avoid committing any violation that could tarnish the image of the institution.
Listyo warned that public trust in the Polri institution has started to wane recently, a reversal from the public opinion polls in the first half of the year, before the incident, that showed rising public trust in Polri.
The investigation team has named several suspect in the killing of police brigadier J, including Ferdy Sambo himself, who allegedly gave the execution order and concocted the cover-up scenario. (un)
