Jakarta, IO – Pink Beach in Komodo National Park, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), is named one of the 20 best beaches in the world according to Lonely Planet, a travel guide book publishing company based in the United States.

It occupies the same league as other famous beaches such as Ipanema Beach in Brazil, Punta Paloma Beach in Spain and Radhanagar Beach in India, per Tempo, Mon (5/1).

Lonely Planet says Pink Beach is special compared to other beaches in the world as it has the rare reddish sand.

“Its distinctive color comes from deep red organ pipe corals that have decayed offshore for centuries,” it explains. “Mixed with fine white sand, this beach offers a soft, pink coastline.”

The beach is also named as an ideal tourist location especially for snorkeling, and an idyllic charm lined with simple food stalls offering traditional cuisine.

“This beach has many coral reefs where tropical fish gather,” says Lonely Planet.

As part of the survey, Lonely Planet’s editors visited 100 beaches around the world. (un)
