Jakarta, IO – The suspended governor of Papua Lukas Enembe became irate when the prosecution charged him with accepting bribes and gratification to the tune of Rp45.8 billion. He stood trial at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN), per Kompas, Monday (12/6).

After hearing the indictment, Lukas Enembe became emotional. He said the charge was not true, saying loudly: “Where did that (figure) come from? It’s not true!”

“This is trumped up charge!” he yelled.

Lukas Enembe was named a suspect in alleged bribery and gratification case related to infrastructure projects funded by the regional budget in September 2022. Initially, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) only found evidence of bribery totalling Rp1 billion from the PT Tabi Bangun Papua director Rijatno Lakka.

KPK has confiscated a number of his assets suspected to be proceeds of corruption. They comprised plots of land and units of houses and apartments in Jayapura, Bogor and Jakarta. (un)
