Jakarta, IO – In the effort to support and empower those micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah – “UMKM”) that form the backbone of Indonesia’s economy, Lazada Indonesia again held its Lazada Seller Conference, an educational program for sellers on the Lazada platform, on 19 October 2022. Titled “Lazada Seller Conference: Level Up 2022”, it presented tips on how to benefit from market trends and catch new business opportunities, in order to enhance their own business in Lazada – especially in view of the upcoming Year-End Shopping Festival on 11.11 and 12.12.

As a pioneer of the National Online Shopping Day (Hari Belanja Online Nasional – “Harbolnas”) scheme, Lazada finds the Festival to be important momentum for its sellers to gain high profits – and thus worthy of proper preparations.

Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium-sized Businesses of the Republic of Indonesia Teten Masduki; Chief Commercial Officer Lazada Indonesia, James Chang; and Executive Director, Lazada Indonesia Ferry Kusnowo jointly opened the “Lazada Seller Conference: Level Up 2022”. The event brought in multiple speakers who are Lazada internal experts and external experts, including GfK Market Intelligence Retail Services Director Elvinda Liung to present various online shopping trends and behavior common among Indonesian consumers.

As more and more UMKMs start to get into digital transformation every day, collaboration between the Government, industries, and other stakeholders should be strengthened, in order to allow UMKMs to achieve their optimum potential within Indonesia’s digital economy. Minister Teten expressed the Government’s support of this digital transformation in his opening speech of the event: “The digital economy is an inseparable part of UMKM business processes. Adapting to this process is key in the resilience of Cooperatives and UMKMs in the economy. Our digital economic value is projected at IDR 4,531 trillion in 2030. With such amazing potential, we need to ensure that it is our UMKMs who develop and benefit from this potential. For that purpose, the Government is encouraging 30 million national UMKMs to get on board our digital ecosystem by 2024,” he said.
