Jakarta, IO – The Manpower Ministry (Kemnaker) and the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh have provided protection for Siti Kurmeisa, an Indonesian domestic worker whose video went viral after she asked the government to help her return to the country as she alleged that she has been mistreated by her employer.
The video sparked outcry after it was uploaded by the Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD via his official Twitter account.
Kemnaker’s Manpower Placement Director General Suhartono admitted that the ministry has taken prompt measures to coordinate with relevant authorities to address the issue.
“We immediately asked the Labor Attache (Atnaker) at the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh to immediately take care of the problem according to applicable regulations,” Suhartono said, reported CNN Indonesia, Monday (30/1).
