Atypical Symptoms

PCOS symptoms are highly varied and atypical, causing late diagnosis in patients. Therefore, when you suffer from menstrual problems and hyperandrogenism, immediately contact your local obstetrician/gynecologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

“A good menstrual cycle lasts 21-28 days. If it’s 35 days or longer, it is abnormal. You must get immediate treatment if you don’t menstruate for 2-3 months in a row while not being pregnant. Obesity is a risk factor for PCOS because of insulin resistance. When your weight increases, your insulin level also increases, causing your egg cells to have stunted growth and your testosterone hormone to increase. Obese PCOS patients do not need medication; really, they just need to modify their lifestyle by having a balanced diet and perform routine exercises to lose weight,” he said.

PCOS treatment is matched according to individual needs. In general, medical treatment is also meant to improve the quality of life while minimizing medical side effects. In particular, PCOS treatment is meant to reduce the production rate and overall level of androgens in the blood, which regulates menstruation and allows for pregnancy, as follicles can grow properly and promote ovulation.
