Jakarta, IO – FIFA president Gianni Infantino conveyed a special message to Indonesian supporters after the country’s U-23 football team was defeated by Guinea 0-1 in the 2024 Olympic playoff match at INF Clairefontaine, France, Thursday (9/5).
“My message to everyone in the football-loving country of Indonesia is to be proud of your team,” penned Gianni via his Instagram account @gianni_infantino.
“Keep supporting them with the same passion as they are moving in the right direction. I watched them play in Clairefontaine/Paris today and can say that the team missed out on a historic qualification for the Olympic Games by a very narrow margin,” Infantino said.

Infantino also expressed his appreciation for the performance of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) under the leadership of Erick Thohir which has succeeded in improving the performance of the Indonesian football.
