Jakarta, IO – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo (Jokowi) announced that his administration will reopen exports of crude palm oil (CPO) and cooking oil on May 23, according to the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Thursday (19/5).
Jokowi said the livelihood of the 17 million farmers/laborers in the palm oil industry is the main point of consideration of the policy. Despite the resumption, Jokowi ensured that strict supervision would continue to be enforced.
“Even though exports are reopened, the government will continue to monitor [the market] closely so that supplies are available and affordable,” said Jokowi.
