Jakarta, IO – The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Manila collaborated with the Indonesian Duta Maju Foundation to hold the Tempe Festival at the 2023 Asean Food Festival (AFF) at SM Mall of Asia. On that occasion, for the first time in the world, Indonesian chefs served tempeh which was processed into ‘Ice Tempe Coffee Latte’.

This creation was prepared by Chef Yudhi Harijono and Chef Eek Kie, who managed to attract a lot of attention from visitors because tempeh is generally used as food, not drink, per Kemlu.go.id, Tuesday (8/8).

Apart from that, the Indonesian Embassy also presented various kinds of tempeh and chili processed food which were distributed to visitors free of charge. The offerings included Tempe Orek, Fried Tempe, Balado Tempe, Chips Tempe, Tempe Retort Bawang, Tempe Bolognese, and Tempe Rendang.

“The Indonesian Embassy really supports the promotion of tempe as a superfood that is the pride of Indonesia in the Philippines. The concept of promoting tempe combined with cultural arts is very interesting and provides added value for visitors,” said Indonesian Ambassador Agus Widjojo.
