Jakarta, IO – Following their successful “The Way You Yawn, and The Outcry of Peace” World Tour in Latin America, the Japanese rock band RADWIMPS is gearing up to bring their tour to Asia, scheduling Jakarta for May 19, 2024. To fulfill the intense demand of Indonesian fans, the RADWIMPS concert will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center Exhibition, Hall B.
The soundtrack and score for Makoto Shinkai’s film “Suzume” was composed by RADWIMPS, in collaboration with music composer Kazuma Jinnouchi, when Toaka auditioned to perform one of RADWIMPS’ songs for the film. “Suzume” achieved global success, grossing over USD 300 million worldwide. Through their contributions to the film “Suzume,” RADWIMPS and Kazuma won the “Best Music” category at the 46th Japan Academy Awards.
Recently, RADWIMPS announced that Japanese singer Toaka, who sings RADWIMPS’ “Suzume,” will also join their Asia Tour as a guest star. Toaka was selected, as her beautiful voice enriched the “Suzume” song on the film’s soundtrack album. A 21-year-old musician, Toaka entered the music industry by earning popularity among TikTok users through her several covers and original songs. When she performed “Suzume,” she received multiple offers from major music labels at the same time. Toaka has recently released her debut EP, “Boku dakeno Ai,” through Universal Music Worldwide, which demonstrates her exceptional musicality and her colors.
Toaka’s EP debut offers a unique and diverse approach to Toaka’s musicality. Different songs, “Discord-Disco,” “Cinder ella” and “Boku Dakega Ai,” show different characters in Toaka’s voice and sense of music, with all her songs showcasing her young soul and other darker sides of her realm.
RADWIMPS was first founded in 2001 and made their debut in 2005. The Japanese pop-rock band has captivated and built a strong fanbase, despite their new appearance on stage. Their fanbase ranges from young teens to adults.
RADWIMPS has released nine albums and managed to compose the famous soundtrack albums for the internationally-successful animated films by Makoto Shinkai, “Your Name. (‘Kimi No Na Wa’)” (2016) and “Weathering with You” (2019), which helped them achieve nominations at the Japanese Academy Awards for the Best Original Score category.
RADWIMPS’ music extends beyond Japan with their world tours, visiting various countries. Tickets for their 2023 world tour, which covered North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, were quickly sold out.
