Through art exhibition, Amnesty Indonesia seeks to educate the public on civil liberty

Apart from the exhibition, the report was also confirmed by accounts of narrowing space for civil liberties. Amnesty Indonesia believes that this happened because human rights advocates and journalists who report on facts on the ground are often threatened. This causes people to refrain from expressing themselves and tend to self-censor their opinions for fear of punishment.

In fact, if given more space to express opinions, Amnesty Indonesia believes that the public can actively participate in the formulation of public policies. Through #RightsFest: Freedom of Expression Week, Amnesty Indonesia also invites the public to participate in encouraging the state to respect and protect civil liberties.
