Jakarta, IO – The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has ordered the recall of two products made by PT Heinz ABC Indonesia, namely soybean sauce Kecap Manis ABC and chili sauce Saus Sambal ABC Ayam Goreng.

The products were recalled because they contain allergens not declared on the label. SFA found sulphur dioxide and benzoic acid that exceeded the allowed limits, reported Katadata.

Under the Singapore Food Regulations, food products containing ingredients known to cause hypersensitivity must be stated on the labels to protect public health. SFA also requires that all ingredients in packaged foods be listed in descending order.

In response, Indonesia’s Food and Drug Monitoring Agency’s (BPOM) deputy for processed food supervision Rita Endang confirmed that the two products would not be withdrawn from the Indonesian market. According to her, the two products sold domestically are declared safe and the labelling has followed relevant regulations, including information regarding the allergens.
