Jakarta, IO – The results of survey conducted from December 25-27 by Indikator Politik Indonesia found that the majority of respondents (57 percent) do not like the attitude of the presidential and vice presidential candidates who attack and try to subdue their opponents in a debate.

In response, Aljabar Strategic executive director Arifki Chaniago said that at the first debate on December 12, the presidential candidate who tended to use offensive strategy was Anies Baswedan.

Anies tends to try to corner Prabowo Subianto, the No 2 candidate. One of the arguments was about the death of a child named Harun Al-Rasyid during the riots in Jakarta on May 21-22, 2019 and the satire that Prabowo could not stand being in opposition.

According to Arifki, the survey findings show that the strategy Anies used was not appropriate and people do not like it. The public also think that Anies owes Prabowo a debt of gratitude during the 2017 Jakarta regional election.

At that time, the Gerindra Party, chaired by Prabowo, supported Anies and helped him in the contest even though it was in the opposition camp. “Thanks to support from Prabowo, Anies succeeded in winning the Jakarta’s governor race,” he said.
