New TNI commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto officially takes office

Jakarta, IO – Gen. Agus Subiyanto officially replaced Adm. Yudo Margono as Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) chief. The succession was marked by a handover ceremony at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Wed (22/11).

Agus was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo at the State Palace on Wed (22/11) morning.  The agenda, which started at 1.15pm, began with a parade followed by a ceremony involving all service branches.

As the new commander of TNI, Agus said he would continue the programs of his predecessor.  He also emphasized that he would make TNI a more adaptive institution.

“My vision and mission is to build TNI as an excellent, professional, responsive, integrated, modern and adaptive forces,” he added.

Agus’s appointment was confirmed by the House of Representatives (DPR) on Tue (21/11) after he passed the fit and proper test on Mon (13/11). (un)
