Jakarta, IO – Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) erupted again on Wednesday (3/1). The previous volcanic eruption occurred on Wednesday (27/12).
Monitoring station officer Anselmus Bobyson said that currently the status of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki is at alert level III, per Kompas, Thu (4/1).
The public is asked not to carry out any activities within a 3km radius from the center of the volcanic eruption.
“The smoke from the main crater is white with a high intensity around 500-800 meters from the peak,” said Anselmus.
The eruption has had an impact on the community, including teaching and learning activities. Head of the East Flores regency education, youth and sports bureau Felix Suban Hoda said school holidays have to be extended.

He said students from all levels of education should end the even semester holidays on Wednesday (3/1), and return to school on Thursday (4/1).
Felix revealed that the schools affected by the eruption are located in two sub-districts, Wulanggitang and Ile Bura. The bureau has coordinated with regional school coordinator and school principals in the two sub-districts regarding the holiday extension. (un)
