Kalista partners with Surabaya for eco-friendly energy sources

Jakarta, IO – PT Kalista Nusa Armada (Kalista), a subsidiary of PT Indika Energy Tbk., and the Surabaya City Government, have signed an MoU to collaborate on an electric vehicle trial program and evaluation for public transportation in Surabaya, involving Tammam Jannata, Director of Kalista, and Tundjung Iswandaru, Head of the Surabaya City Transportation Department, to sign the MoU. 

This collaboration is part of the city government’s energy conversion effort toward more environmentally-friendly public transportation. On this occasion, the Surabaya City Government carried out a trial that included numerous electric vehicle units, including single buses, medium buses, and micro-buses. 

Kalista is a comprehensive and integrated provider of electric vehicle transition solutions. “Through this collaboration, we accelerate the use of eco-friendly electric vehicles by the Surabaya City Government, which is in line with the Indika Energy Group’s commitment to achieving a carbon-neutral environment in Indonesia,” said Kalista’s Director, Tammam Jannata. 

Tammam further stated that as a comprehensive and integrated electric vehicle provider, Kalista has been appointed as a partner in the electric vehicle trial for public transportation in Surabaya, which demonstrates the government’s high level of trust toward the company. 

“We have determined the bus specifications, chargers, and operational needs, from the planning phase, in order to be more productive. Kalista offers the best financial solutions according to the client’s requirements,” explained Tammam. 

Tammam pointed out that Kalista’s capacity and expertise in electrical transport technology and fleet maintenance will improve efficiency while reducing the complexity of fleet operations. Kalista also organizes post-operational networks to reuse fleets and batteries.

Tundjung Iswandaru, the Head of the Surabaya City Transportation Department, stated that the Surabaya City Government continues to promote the use of clean energy and reduce fueled vehicle usage for mass transportation, as well as reducing congestion. 

“This electric vehicle trial marks the vital transition to electric public transportation in Surabaya. The Surabaya City Government extends our appreciation to Kalista as our partner in the electric vehicle transition process,” he said. (des/ast)
