Jokowi volunteers group Projo chairman appointed as Communications and Information minister in latest cabinet shake-up

Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo again reshuffled his cabinet at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (17/7). According to the statement from the Cabinet Secretariat website, Jokowi appointed Budi Arie Setiadi as the new communications and information minister, as well as five deputy minister positions.

Budi replaced Johnny G Plate who is embroiled in a corruption case. He previously served as deputy minister for the villages, disadvantaged regions and transmigration portfolio. Budi is known as a staunch Jokowi loyalist and is the chairman of Pro Jokowi (Projo), a volunteers group who support the president during the previous two elections.

Meanwhile, the five deputy ministers are Nezar Patria (deputy minister of communications and information), Pahala Nugraha Mansury (deputy minister of foreign affairs), Paiman Rahardjo (deputy minister of villages, disadvantaged regions and transmigration), Rosan Perkasa Roeslani (deputy minister of SOE) and Syaiful Rahmat (deputy minister of religious affairs).

Additionally, Jokowi appointed Djan Faridz and Gandi Sulistiyanto Soeherman as members of the Presidential Advisory Board (Wantimpres).

Gandi Sulistiyanto previously served as Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Korea, while Djan Faridz was formerly the public housing minister during the second United Indonesia cabinet (2009-14). (un)
