Indonesia Wins 5 Gold Medals in International Para-Athletic Events

Jakarta, IO – Indonesian national team made proud achievement in the international para-athletic grand prix competition which took place from February 22 to March 2 in Dubai, UAE. They managed to grab five gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

The competition was participated in by 700 athletes from 66 countries. One of the gold medals was won by Eko Saputro in the men’s 100 meters. His time record was 11.11 seconds.

Karisma Evi Tirani won the second gold in the women’s 100 meters with a time of 14.86 seconds. The next gold was contributed by Nur Very Pradana in the men’s 100 meters with a time of 11.12 seconds.

In the long jump event, Ricka Oktavia produced a distance of 5.18 meters. The last gold medal was presented by Sapto Yoga Purnama in the shot put event with a distance of 11.64 meters.

National team coach Slamet Widodo appreciated the achievements that brought fame to Indonesia. Slamet set similar targets in the next event, the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia.

“The athletes’ performance was around 80 to 90 percent, so we are quite satisfied with the results,” said Slamet, reported Kompas, Friday (3/3). (bp)
