Indonesia-Tanzania ink cooperation agreements in many areas, from trade to healthcare

Jakarta, IO – Indonesia and Tanzania agreed to strengthen cooperation in various fields. The agreements were reached during a meeting between the President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and the President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Thursday (25/1).

In investment, both countries are committed to strengthening cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Jokowi said state energy company PT Pertamina has expanded cooperation in the Mnazi Bay oil and gas block and carried out training for employees of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).

In trade, both countries will start negotiations on the establishment of a preferential trade agreement (PTA) this year, per Setkab.go.id.

In addition, Indonesia is committed to increasing cooperation in human resource capacity and implementing digital systems to foster the development of the two countries.

“Indonesia is committed to increasing cooperation in revitalizing the Farmer’s Agriculture and Rural Training Center (FARTC) in Morogoro, training human resources in the oil and gas and agriculture sectors, and implementing the National Single Window System,” he said.

In the health front, Indonesian pharmaceutical companies are committed to meeting medical needs in Tanzania. An assessment was also carried out between the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and the Tanzania’s Medicines and Medical Devices Authority to accelerate the registration of pharmaceutical products.
