Jakarta Fashion Week 2024

Jakarta, IO – The Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2024 officially launched on October 23, 2023, showcasing a spectacular fashion celebration combining trends, beauty, innovation, and collaboration. This year’s JFW takes place in City Hall, Pondok Indah Mall 3, South Jakarta, and runs from October 23~29, 2023. Indonesia’s largest fashion week brings together various creative industries and fashion practitioners from different generations on an inspiring and stylish stage, “Fashion Continuum: Bridging Generations.” 

While launching the 2024 JFW, Chairwoman of Jakarta Fashion Week and CEO of GCM Group, Svida Alisjahbana, stated that JFW aims to stimulate the country’s fashion industry. 

“#FashionContinuum #BridgingGenerations strongly portrays JFW as a creative platform to celebrate Indonesia’s fashion industry and serves as a bridge for Indonesian fashion globally. We seek to accompany, facilitate, and develop designers’ work in every generation,” explained Svida. 

The 2024 JFW kicked off with the 44th anniversary of the Fashion Designer Contest (LPM), featuring a parade of LPM alumni, LPA (Accessory Designer Contest), and LPMM (Menswear Designer Contest) from 1979 to 2022: Chossy Latu, Itang Yunasz, Carmanita, Denny Wirawan, Ferry Sunarto, Sally Koeswanto, Priyo Oktaviano, Andreas Odang, Billy Tjong, Albert Garry Yanuar, Natalia Kiantoro, Juliana Ng, Yelly Lumentu (Day and Night), Ansy Savitri, Frederika Cynthia Dewi, Adrie Basuki, Widi Asari, Temma Prasetyo, Kimberly Lintungan (Soeithe), Henri Winata, Sally Koeswanto, Yonatan Digo, Matias Abednego, Amelia Kartikasari, Hian Tjen and Ardina Gona Gan. 

Four decades of LPM’s existence have produced Indonesia’s most successful and influential fashion designers. 

Highly-anticipated performance 

The 2024 JFW will present a series of innovative and creative programs and awards that have been carefully curated by JFW officials for a whole week. Over 100 national and international fashion designers will exhibit their best work on the runway, including Oscar Lawalata Culture, Ivan Gunawan, Didiet Maulana, Danjyo Hiyoji, Ernesto Abram, BINhouse, MORAL, Sean Sheila, Stellarissa, Sejauh Mata Memandang, Starry, Tanah Le Sae, Buttonscarves, IKYK, and Ria Miranda. 

The much-awaited Dewi Fashion Knights (DFK) will appear in two sessions: #DFK2023 “The Visionary,” presenting Jan Sober, Rama Dauhan, and Byo for the ready-towear category, and #DFK2023 “The Artistry,” presenting haute couture pieces by Hian Tjen and Mahija. JFW will also present the 2023 Fashion Force Award for young designers and newly established local brands. 

Over the years, close relationships with national and international institutions have enabled JFW to grow as a prominent Indonesian fashion week, which is also supported by the Jakarta Provincial Government, the Medan City Government, and the East Nusa Tenggara Province through Dekranasda NTT.

The South Korean government, represented by its Korea Creative Agency (KOCCA) Indonesia, the State of Victoria, and the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, supported the event by showcasing their chosen fashion designers, including Vegan Tiger and LIE by Lee Chung Chung of South Korea, who represents the Korea Creative Agency (KOCCA) in Indonesia, and designers Wa-ring and Yanggurdi to represent both the Australian Embassy and the State of Victoria in Jakarta. 

The Creative Director of Jakarta Fashion Week ,Andandika Surasetja ,pointed out that the 2024 Jakarta Fashion Week must reflect the spirit of inclusion and collaboration in facing the changes of time“ .JFW is a place where designers ,labels, media ,and fashion enthusiasts interact and celebrate creativity in advancing a proud Indonesia’s fashion industry ”,he concluded.
