Jakarta, IO – The still raging armed conflict between Israel and Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, in Gaza Strip has resulted in mounting casualties.

The latest incident was a rocket attack on the Al-Ahdi Baptist Hospital (RS) on Tuesday (17/10) which killed almost 500 people, per CNBC Indonesia, Thursday (19/10). Israel denied involvement in the explosion.

Since the beginning of the conflict, a total of 3,300 have been reportedly killed, with more than 13,000 others injured.

In the occupied West Bank, 61 Palestinians were also reported killed and more than 1,250 injured. Meanwhile, the death toll on the Israeli side reached 1,400 people and 4,475 others injured.

As the number of victims increases, the war that has broken out again since Saturday (7/10) has drawn international criticism, including from Indonesia, which from the start has always supported the struggles of the Palestinians.

The Foreign Ministry (Kemlu) stated via X (formerly Twitter) that the government of Indonesia has urged the UN Security Council to immediately take concrete steps to stop attacks and acts of violence in Gaza.

“Injustice against the Palestinian people has been going on for a very long time and is still happening. It’s time for the world to prioritize a just peace for Palestine,” it wrote. (un)
