A Jordanian family arrested in Bali for being beggars

Jakarta, IO – One family from Jordan was detained by Bali Immigration after they were caught begging in the tourist island. The family consists of AS, 25, his wife FA, 21, and their young child. They were arrested by the Badung Public Order Police (Satpol PP) at the shopping center in Kuta, per antaranews, Thursday (26/10).

“They are being detained at the immigration detention center while they wait for their deportation process to conclude,” said Ngurah Rai Immigration head Suhendra.

He explained that the family were arrested after photos of them begging while carrying their child in a stroller went viral on Instagram.

After being questioned, they admitted that they resorted to begging because he ran out of money while on holiday in Bali. According to immigration record, they entered Bali via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on September 30 using Visa on Arrival (VOA). Their stay permit is still valid until October 29. (un)
