This was followed by a group of students rafting wearing kebaya. In addition to supporting “Kebaya Goes to UNESCO”, the event was held to commemorate the Youth Pledge Day, Friday (28/10).
Support also came from Indonesian women in the United States. Recently, about 200 women participated in the “Cantik Berkebaya” (Beautiful in Kebaya) parade in the National Mall, Washington DC.

According to the website of the Foreign Ministry, this activity is a form of support from the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC with the Indonesian diaspora community to popularize kebaya with the hope that it can make it into the lists of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. (un)
