Jakarta, IO – The government has issued new regulations regarding National Health Insurance (JKN) by eliminating the three-tiered class system and replacing it with the standardized hospital class (KRIS) system.

The regulation is contained in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) 59/2024 signed by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on May 8, per CNN Indonesia, Wed (15/5).

The change will be implemented no later than June 30, 2025. Before that, hospitals can provide some or all of the inpatient services based on KRIS according to their own capabilities.

In addition, if the hospital has implemented treatment room facilities for inpatient services based on KRIS before the deadline, then the tariff payment by BPJS Kesehatan will be adjusted to the inpatient class tariff to which the participant is entitled in accordance with statutory provisions.

Based on Article 46A, a number of criteria for treatment room facilities in inpatient services based on KRIS are related to the suitability of buildings and rooms, such as the availability of oxygen outlets, division of rooms based on age, gender and disease, and bathrooms meeting accessibility standards. The excludes inpatient services for babies or perinatology, intensive care, inpatient services for mental patients, and care that has special facilities.
