This has also prompted the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) to urge the National Police to hold an open trial. IPW chair Sugeng Teguh Santoso said the trial should be conducted openly so that the public can get all the facts and to dispel allegation of cover up.
“The public currently has suspicions that the suspect has not been detained, and all kinds of rumours are circulating on social media. With an open trial, questions from members of the public can be addressed,” said Sugeng.

IPW hopes the code of ethics trial will decide on dismissing Ferdy Sambo from the police force. “He should be fired. Otherwise, it will give the impression that his resistance has succeeded,” he said. (un)
