“It was a surprise for me, indeed! I am so touched – it’s sold out? That’s amazing! Of course, I’ve seen the amazing job Sahid Jaya did with the promotion. At such prices and rates, you can be sure that they’ll provide you with equally amazing facilities in turn,” Uthe sparkled. “As for the show proper – naturally, we made our own preparations. We practiced multiple times. As it happens, I have the Ruth Sahanaya band, we are familiar with this because of our many performances over the years. They have always supported my performances. Yes, there are some parts that we need to practice more in order to match the event. Before the Bell, I’ll be singing my songs. But after the Countdown ends at midnight, we’ll be switching to party tunes.”
This year, Uthe celebrated Christmas with her family in Bandung. It was not their first Christmas celebration in the “Paris van Java”, but there is something special this year. “We’ve been celebrating Christmas together in Bandung since last year, but this year is extra special for my family: our child exchanged rings and we met with the extended members of the other family,” she twinkled.

Uthe went on to describe how her family celebrates Christmas every year: “There’s the usual exchange of gifts, of course. But we also have a dress code – a different one every year. This year, we just got back from Sydney, Australia, because my youngest just graduated from college there. As it happens, they sold all these cute Christmas T-shirts, so we bought plenty and that’s our dress code for the year,” she giggled. (rp)
