Jakarta, IO – A group of environmental activists from Greenpeace Indonesia displayed the banner “Clean Air Now” during a protest over worsening air pollution in Jakarta at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, Friday (22/9).
Since July, Jakarta’s air quality has deteriorated. Jakarta was even named among the top five cities with the worst air quality in the world. According to data from the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), air pollution in Jakarta has reached its highest level in recent weeks.

The protest aims to send a message to the public and the government that air quality in Jakarta is still at a worrying level and mitigating actions need to be taken immediately.
