President Jokowi Appoints 12 New Ambassadors

Jakarta, IO – President RI Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed 12 Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassadors at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (26/06/2023).

According to setkab.go.id, Tuesday (27/06), the appointment was based by the Presidential Decrees mandated on 14 and 23 June 2023. These Ambassadors, who are apppointed to represent Indonesia in allied countries are:

  1. Former Spokesman of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Teuku Faizasyah, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway and Republic of Iceland, to be stationed in Oslo, Norway.
  2. Michael Trias Kuncahyono, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador for the Holy See, to be stationed in the Vatican.
  3. Achmad Rizal Purnama, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye, to be stationed in Ankara.
  4. Arief, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador to the Republics of Ukraine, Armenia, and Georgia, to be stationed in Kyiv, Ukraine.
  5. Achmad Ubaedillah, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador for the Kingdom of Brunei Darussalam, to be stationed in Bandar Seri Begawan.
  6. Santo Darmosumarto, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, to be stationed in Phnom Penh.
  7. Grata Endah Werdaningtyas, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador for the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos, to be stationed in Vientiane.
  8. I Gede Ngurah Swajaya, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador to the Swiss Confederacy and the Principality of Liechtenstein, to be stationed in Bern, Switzerland.
  9. Dupito Dorma Simamora, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador for the Republics of Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, and Tuvalu, to be stationed in Suva, Fiji.
  10. Meidyatama Suryodiningrat, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador for the Republics of Romania and Moldova, to be stationed in Bucharest, Romania.
  11. Ricky Suhendar, as Ambassador for the Republic of Peru and the Plurinational State of Bolivia, to be stationed in Lima, Peru.
  12. Saud Purwanto Krisnawan, as Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassador for the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Botswana, the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Kingdom of Eswatini, and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), to be stationed in Pretoria.

During the appointment, Jokowi dictated the professional vows of these Extraordinary and Fully Empowered Ambassadors witnessed by several Ministers of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and the State Secretary Pratikno. (un)
