Corruption Eradication Commission Exhibits the Money Embezzled by Former Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe

Jakarta, IO – The Corruption Eradication Commission (“KPK”) exhibits the money confiscated as evidence of corruption perpetrated by deactivated Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, on Monday (26/06/2023).

According to KPK’s official statement, total amount of money laundered by Lukas Enembe, shown on stage, was Rp 81,628,693.00 or more than 81 billion rupiah. There were also foreign currencies that Enembe hoarded, piled atop the domestic currency (USD 5,100.00 and SGD 26,300.00). Other than physical money, KPK also exhibited photos of assets and items obtained by Enembe through corruption, ranging from gold bars to fancy cars.

Head of KPK Broadcast Division, Ali Fikri, confirmed that all of the monies exhibited by KPK that day was really the money embezzled and laundered by Enembe. The KPK’s current indictment of Enembe stems from further investigation of his previous crimes: “After the KPK investigative team discovered sufficient evidence in the bribery and gratification perpetrated by Suspect LE, it then discovered further evidence that allows us to further indict LE as a suspected money launderer,” he declared to the press, Wednesday (12/04).
