Post-debate, CSIS Survey: Prabowo-Gibran Most Popular and Favourable

Jakarta, IO – The results of a Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) survey show that the presidential and vice presidential candidates Prabowo-Gibran are superior to other contenders in a number of indicators such as popularity and favourability after the first presidential and vice presidential debate.

In a press conference held online on Wednesday (27/12), CSIS Politics and Social Change Department head Arya Fernandes, revealed that Prabowo’s popularity is the highest at 97.2 percent.

“Prabowo is known by 97.2 percent of the respondents, followed by Anies with 91.5 percent and Ganjar with 91.1 percent,” said Arya.

“Among vice presidential candidates, Gibran is also the most popular with 88.8 percent, followed by Mahfud with 81.5 percent and Muhaimin with 73.8 percent.”

Prabowo is also the most popular presidential candidate with 79.1 percent, ahead of Anies with 71.9 percent and Ganjar with 68 percent.

“We asked for preferences. We didn’t take preferences from a familiar basis, but we took them directly from the total sample. So this does show that there is variation, from the total sample, Prabowo is indeed at 79.1 percent,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gibran is also the most favoured vice presidential candidate with 66 percent, followed by Mahfud with 65.2 percent and Muhaimin with 54.6 percent.

The survey, held on December 13-18, involved 1,300 respondents from 34 provinces. It used multistage random sampling method and employed face-to-face interviews. It has 2.7 percent margin of error and 95 percent confidence level.
