Jakarta, IO – Jakarta Metropolitan Police chief Insp. Gen. Karyoto said he had instructed all police officers in Jakarta to sterilize every church and map potential vulnerabilities in anticipation of terror threats ahead of Christmas mass services, per CNN Indonesia, Mon (18/12).

Karyoto said the police would collaborate with personnel from Jakarta military command to prevent potential terror attacks, especially personnel who have the capability to detect and defuse bombs. They will be posted to a number of large churches with large congregations.

The police will also screen the congregants before they enter the church premises or religious festival venue to prevent any dangerous items, especially explosives, from being sneaked in.
