Jakarta, IO – Mount Andong climbing route in Magelang, Central Java, will be closed during Ramadan. The temporary closure will be carried out on three routes, namely Sawit, Pendem and Gogik.
“The closure will take effect from March 11 to April 12,” said the spokesperson Khoirul, per Kompas, Monday (3/3).
He also said that climbers who are currently on the 1,726-meter-high mountain must descend on Sunday (10/3).
The closure is a routine agenda that is carried out every year. Apart from Ramadan, hiking trails are also closed during forest fires, as happened in August 2023.

Climbing via Gogik and Pendem is the route to reach the peak of Mount Andong from the east side. Meanwhile, the Sawit route will lead directly to the summit. (un)
