Jakarta, IO – Lembaga Pengajaran Tata Busana Susan Budihardjo (LPTB Susan Budihardjo), a pioneer of local fashion education institutions, was founded 43 years ago. This fashion school prepares professional fashion designers and fashion workers in the fashion industry. Alumna of LPTB Susan Budihardjo frequently sets the standard for Indonesia’s fashion design and trends.
This institution facilitates final-year students to have an opportunity to show their last Student Final Project in public as an annual tradition, and provides a runway for students to see their work displayed in public. A first start for a career in the fashion business.
Each year, the school selects a theme for the Student’s Final Project presentation, which will assist in developing their creativity. The Alpha generation (born between 2010 and 2024) is a source of inspiration for the 2023 theme, as the style of a generation affects the course of the fashion world.
To encourage and enliven the 2023 Jakarta Fashion and Food Festival, on July 22, 2023 LPTB Susan Budihardjo dispatched 24 prospective fashion designer students to create “(ALPHA) Adaptation”-inspired designs. The students from Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali are assigned to present three to five original fashion designs.
Generation Z fashion designers freely interpret the younger generation’s fashion styles into design ideas and have modified them for the future. Young fashion designers embody the mindset and character of the Alpha generation, who are growing up with digital technology, have a free and independent outlook, and are not afraid to attempt new things.
“I want them to capture the spirit of the future with a borderless perspective colored by digital technology intervention. I hope they will broaden their horizons and perspectives, while remaining sensitive to the environment and its surroundings. They are free to find their own characteristics and make strong statements for their time,” said LPTB Founder and Leader Susan Budihardjo.
The audience can clearly see the shared theme presented and instilled in the “ALPHA Adaptation” collection. For this matter, Susan Budihardjo involved an alumnus, Andri Suta, as a student advisor in preparing collection offerings.
The fashion study is completed with the final exam presentation on the runway under the supervision of a senior. The system provides both seniors and juniors with an opportunity to exchange information and hone their emotions.

“Involving students in a performance and preparing everything from start to finish is such a valuable lesson; it is the first step into the real world of fashion,” Andri Suta explained.
The presence of LPTB student Susan Budihardjo at the 2023 Jakarta Fashion and Food Festival will contribute to the Indonesian fashion business and the development of the country’s fashion world. (des)
