KKB members shot by security officers in Central Papua

Jakarta, IO – Three members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) were shot by joint TNI-Polri officers in Intan Jaya regency, Central Papua, Sunday (21/1).

They are affiliated with the Free Papua Movement (OPM) known to be involved in attacking security posts, per CNN Indonesia, Tue (23/1).

Cartenz Peace Task Force spokesperson AKBP Bayu Suseno said they were part of the Yoswa Maisani group led by field commander Guspi Waker. The group is also known for carrying out attacks that lead to civilian and security forces casualties.

“They were shot in the chest and legs,” said Bayu.

Previously, a member of the Cartenz Peace Task Force died after being shot by KKB in Intan Jaya on Friday (19/1). The victim was evacuated, but he succumbed to his injury.

“The personnel who suffered gunshot wounds was treated at the Sugapa Community Health Center, but the doctor could not save his life,” explained Bayu. (un)
