Jakarta, IO – The robot merges with the actor’s body. Staggered, he becomes possessed by the spirit of a woman. That was one of the scenes from Identikit, a play by Bekasi-based Sekat Studio at Komunitas Salihara’s Helateater program, Friday (24/2).

According to the director cum scriptwriter Iskandar Muda, the play was about an artist who compensates his longing for his deceased lover by playing jelangkung (a traditional spirit game).

“In this show, a series of objects ranging from masks, dolls, actors, shadows to musical instruments are used to present metaphors related to the human body, mind and soul,” Iskandar told Observerid.com.

The idea of the play was hatched by haunted house community based on stories they gathered from those who have lost their loved onesoss of loved ones.

“Actually we don’t have basics in theatre. But we are interested in theater as medium to portray the theme. We want to change the image that horror is not always synonymous with mysticism. Sekat Studio tries to bring stories about ghost through various forms of interaction and imitation in places full of human activity,” said Iskandar.
