Jakarta, IO – Jakarta Provincial Administration strives to reduce air pollution through several measures, including requiring 50 percent of state civil apparatus (ASN) to work from home for the next three months. Caretaker Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono said the trial would start Monday (21/8), per Katadata, Friday (18/8).

“Especially for those who don’t have to interact with the residents in person,” said Heru. He said the policy is also part of the government efforts to reduce pollution ahead of the Asean Summit in September.

The trial will run until October 21. Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono hopes the implementation of the hybrid work system will be able to reduce air pollution in the capital.

Previously, President Joko Widodo planned to carry out hybrid working. According to him, the initiative is part of the short-term measures to reduce air pollution in the capital city which has worsened recently. Jakarta has been named one of the most polluted cities in the world by IQAir. (un)
