Condemning Israel Attack on Gaza, Jokowi Urges an Immediate Ceasefire

Jakarta, IO – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo emphasized that Indonesia is furious with the increasingly deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. He also strongly condemned the random attacks that Israel continues to launch.

“Indonesia’s position is very clear and unequivocal in condemning random attacks on civilians and civilian facilities in Gaza,” said Jokowi, per Setkab.go.id, Tuesday (31/10).

In this statement, Jokowi also urged an immediate ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. He said the Republic of Indonesia has continued to communicate with many parties to try to resolve the problem in Palestine.

“We must stop the violence, we must seek a ceasefire, we must accelerate humanitarian assistance,” he stressed.

In addition, Jokowi said Indonesia would immediately send humanitarian aid composed of donations from the government, local entrepreneurs and the community to Palestine.

“The humanitarian aid will be tailored to the requests and needs of the Palestinian people,” said Jokowi.

The Israeli-Palestinian situation has continued to worsen since October 7. The war in the Gaza Strip has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties. The death toll has reached 8,005, with 20,200 others injured. (un)
