International Ethnic Music: A token of appreciation for the world’s musicians

The Jakarta Arts Council Music Committee (DKJ) successfully organized the third International Ethnic Music Festival. It was initiated back in 2019 as “Etno Music Festival”, but in 2021 altered its name to “International Ethnic Music Festival” since it had invited other traditional musicians from abroad. 

Demo Day: tackling marine plastic waste fromthe get-go

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), an Australian Government agency responsible for scientific research, and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade are cooperating with the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to overcome the increasingly worrying plastic waste crisis in the Indo-Pacific region. In the RekaPitch Kedaireka and the National Plastics Action Partnership (NPAP) program, the cooperation launched Plastics Innovation Hub Indonesia, to forge a generation of the next Indonesian entrepreneurs to tackle the plastic waste crisis. 

Yogyakarta’s Cultural Agency hosts Javaneseliterature dialogue

The Yogyakarta Cultural Agency brilliantly presented an educational program and promoted the appreciation of literature to a young generation: Yogyakarta Literature Festival. For this year’s event, the Cultural Agency of Yogyakarta held a Javanese literary dialogue during the Bincang Sastra Jawa talk show, involving the Cultural Agency and Gramedia, intent on building a strong literary ecosystem in the cultural heart of Central Java. 

Brit boyband BLUE coming for Valentine 2023 concert

Get ready! Color Asia Live is bringing in Brit boyband Blue to make Valentine’s Day 2023 celebrations more romantic. They are taking fans into nostalgia in the upcoming “Blue Romantic Valentine Live in Jakarta” concert on Tuesday, 14 February 2023, at the Grand Ballroom of Pullman Central Park, Jakarta. Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe, who made up the band well known for hits “All Rise”, “One Love”, “If You Come Back”, and “Guilty”, are also releasing their new album later this month. 

Lazada’s Level Up 2022, readying small businesses for Year-End Shopping Festival

In the effort to support and empower those micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah – “UMKM”) that form the backbone of Indonesia’s economy, Lazada Indonesia again held its Lazada Seller Conference, an educational program for sellers on the Lazada platform, on 19 October 2022. Titled “Lazada Seller Conference: Level Up 2022”, it presented tips on how to benefit from market trends and catch new business opportunities, in order to enhance their own business in Lazada – especially in view of the upcoming Year-End Shopping Festival on 11.11 and 12.12.

The 2022 Literacy Festival: a collaboration of Sampoerna Academy and Jakarta Library

In honoring International Literacy Day and Love Reading Month, Sampoerna Academy and Jakarta Library decided to collaborate in presenting the 2022 Literacy Festival, in an effort to create “smarter Indonesians” by raising literacy levels and increasing reading interest among a younger Indonesian generation. 

New Garuda joins the 2022 International Street Child World Cup

The Garuda Baru Team (New Garuda) is making another attempt at success, following its victory in the 2014 Street Child World Cup in Brazil, and later in 2018 in Russia. Indonesia has sent the Garuda Baru Team to compete in the 2022 International Street Child World Cup (SCWC) in Doha, Qatar, from October 8 to 15, 2022. The Garuda Baru team consists of 9 young female soccer players, trained and selected from August to September 2021. The chosen young players come from various cities in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek). Participants joining the selection stage were required to at least attend ball training for two years.

Institut France Indonesia presents Festival Sinema Prancis (FSP) in a hybrid format (both offline and online) from 6 - 21 October 2022. The first foreign film festival in Indonesia is here in 24th edition, with the theme: Generation.

Indonesian music stakeholders’ positive acts on G20 Presidency issues

A number of Indonesian musicians across genres and generations discussed a range of prioritized issues in the music world as a focus of the G20 Presidency discussion at the “StarsTalk” event. StarsTalk was a Music20 (M20) event series’ first pre-event of the G20 Presidency. Indonesia is hosting the current G20 Presidency, focusing on coordinating economic and development policies.
