Jakarta, IO – Institut France Indonesia presents Festival Sinema Prancis (FSP) in a hybrid format (both offline and online) from 6 – 21 October 2022. The first foreign film festival in Indonesia is here in 24th edition, with the theme: Generation.

With a variety of genres (fiction, short series, animation and documentaries), FSP features 19 films screened in 21 locations spread across 13 cities in Indonesia, and 5 films that can be accessed online through the video-on-demand platform Mola. All programs in FSP are free, with Indonesian and English subtitles.

Carrying a message of hope, of change for a better future, FSP shows films that can raise awareness of the main challenges of our time: climate change, environmental preservation, mass extinction of species, but also human rights and inclusion. On the other hand, FSP presents a variety of genres from French Cinema that can be enjoyed across generations to give new hope and enthusiasm after 2 years trapped in the Covid-19 pandemic.

The festival opening will be held on 6 October with the one of the film selections from the Cannes Film Festival 2021, a documentary film by Cyril Dion, ANIMAL. The story tells about the transformative journey of 2 teenagers who have concerns about mass extinction. In addition, the opening ceremony was also enlivened with a concert for plants from a music group from Bandung, Bottlesmoker. These various events are in line with Institut Français Indonesia, IFI untuk Bumi. A program that supports sustainable development to create a better environment by building awareness about environmental issues through culture.
