Maverick Viñales, MotoGP rider

Jakarta, IO – Aprilia Racing Team racer Maverick Viñales was in the spotlight when he appeared on the Mandalika MotoGP podium in 2023. How could that not be? He surprisingly came out wearing a Batman costume and immediately aroused a big laugh from the audience present at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Viñales continues to steal attention at the Mandalika MotoGP 2023. After several times uttering contemporary Indonesian viral words on his social media, he is now closing the second event in Mandalika by appearing eccentric.

When called to the podium, Viñales was seen wearing a black robe and a Batman mask. What he did also invited laughter and questions about why he did this.

It is known that the Batman costume was presented to him by one of Viñales ‘ big fans, a 28-yearold man named Fajar, before the main race started. When Viñales asked him directly about it, he said that he had made the costume himself in three hours.

Then the mechanic of Aleix Espargaro, Viñales’ Aprilia teammate, challenged Viñales to wear it up to the podium. Feeling thus challenged, Viñales finally dared to go to the podium wearing a Batman superhero outfit.

“I had a bet with one of Aleix’s mechanics that I wouldn’t have the balls to walk onto the podium dressed as Batman. There’s a fantastic harmony in the team, so actions like that are possible,” explained “Maverick”, as quoted by Speedweek.

Viñales thus climbed the podium as a superhero after finishing Second in the main race of the 2023 Mandalika MotoGP, which was held on Sunday 15 October 2023 afternoon WIB. He finished 0.306 seconds behind race winner and reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo). (rp)
