Ahead of the U-17 World Cup, FIFA will set up office in Indonesia starting October 10

Jakarta, IO – FIFA will have its own office in Indonesia starting October 10 as the country hosts the U-17 World Cup to kick off on November 10.

PSSI chairman Erick Thohir also said that FIFA President Gianni Infantino would directly supervise the event. He said Infantino would have an office in Indonesia the day before the U-17 World Cup took place, per Katadata, Wednesday (20/9).

“There are plan for the FIFA president to be immediately present to carry out several activities with President Jokowi,” said Erick.

Erick explained that security and logistics would be prepared by PSSI and the National Police.  He assured that preparations would be 100% complete by October 27.

Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium will be the opening venue for the high-profile international event. The stadium, which is the headquarters of the Persebaya Surabaya FC, is also the home base for the U-17 Indonesian National Team in Group A.

According to the schedule, the opening ceremony will take place on Friday (10/11), 12 minutes before opening duel of Indonesia vs. Ecuador. (un)
